  • Leader: Defeat of Daesh, defeat of divisive plots

Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, says the decisive defeat of the Daesh terrorist group in Iraq and Syria means the defeat of plots to sow discord and seeds of civil strife in West Asia.

The Leader’s remarks were in appreciation to the letter of congratulation to him on the grand victory over these terrorists by Major-General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), who personally led the final phase of the operations in Albu Kamal in Syria near the Iraqi border, following his promise over a couple of months ago to eradicate this cancerous tumour.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “Praised be Almighty God, by weeding out this deadly cancerous tumour, you honourable and dedicated fighter, not only did great service to neighbouring countries and the whole Muslim world, but also to all nations and the entire humanity.”

He said the victory over Daesh Takfiris dealt a heavy blow to the treacherous plots of the enemies to stir up civil war in the region for weakening the anti-Zionist resistance front and undermining independent countries.

The Leader added that this defeat of the terrorists was also a deadly blow to the current and former US regimes and their clients in the region who created this terrorist outfit and provided it with full support to extend its sway in West Asia so as to enable the illegal Zionist entity to dominate the region.

He, however, warned against any laxity towards the deceitful enemy which heavily invested in the creation of the Daesh terrorist group, saying the enemy would try other evil plots in another part of the region and in other forms.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of vigilance, motivation, unity, and full alertness, coupled with cultural activities to raise the awareness of the people, in order to remove all dangerous remnants of the terrorist group.

In his congratulatory message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution earlier on Tuesday, General Soleimani hailed the “grand victory” over Daesh which he said was indebted to the prudent leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei and the sacrifices of all resistance fighters in Iraq and Syria

Soleimani praised the steadfastness of the Iraqi and Syrian peoples, governments, armies and popular forces during the counter-terrorism battles, including volunteers from Lebanon, Afghanistan and Pakistan as defenders of the holy shrines.

He had special praise for the endeavors of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, better known a Hashd al-Sha’bi, in the campaign to eradicate Daesh, and the inspiration drawn from Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani in holy Najaf on whose fatwa these forces were formed.
