Top IRGC commander: New sedition against Islamic Iran has failed
The top commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, has emphasized that a new sedition and plot against the Islamic Republic of Iran has been defeated.
General Jafari said: "The Iranian people are aware, they are vigilant, they have insight, and they have put 'clear distance' between themselves and the rioters and vandals, and those who serve the foreigners; thus ensuring the defeat of another sedition against the Islamic Republic".
On Wednesday, 3 January 2018, extensive and well-attended demonstrations and rallies were held in towns and cities throughout the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the demonstrators expressing their anger and frustration at "opportunistic rioters" who vandalize and destroy public property. The marchers and demonstrators also expressed their anger at a new enemy sedition and plot against Islamic Iran.
In an interview earlier with IRIB, top commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said: "One of the principal aims of the rioters and seditionists, and their foreign overlords, is to murder innocent people and then falsely accuse the Iranian government of being behind the senseless killings. However, with the vigilance and insight of the Iranian people, and the preparedness of Iran's security forces, these enemy plots have once again failed."
The top commander of the IRGC went on to say: "Many of the rioters, who are at the center of this turmoil, have been especially trained by anti-revolutionary elements, and the MKO terrorists, but we have identified who they are, and we have arrested them".
Turning to America, the West, and the Zionist regime's false claims of friendship with the Iranian people, and their obvious support for the rioters and vandals, Major General Jafari said: "If these Liars really cared about the Iranian people, they would never have imposed so many sanctions against Iran, causing hardship for the people".
Elsewhere in his remarks, Major General Jafari said: "The enemies know very well that they can't threaten us militarily. The enemies did everything they could, particularly after the end of eight years of imposed war on Iran, to threaten us economically, culturally, and militarily. But, with the Almighty's help, this enemy effort also failed".
Starting last Thursday, modest crowds took to the streets of several Iranian towns and cities, peacefully demonstrating against rising prices, the government's failure to stem the rise of prices of essential items, and the fact that some Iranians have lost their savings when a number of small credit institutions went bankrupt. However, opportunistic rioters quickly turned these limited peaceful gatherings into riots, filled with violence.
Some Western countries, reactionary Arab regimes and the Zionist regime of Israel, have already declared their full support for the vandals and rioters.
