Iran beat Uzbekistan 1-0 in first post-World Cup match
Iran’s National Football Team (Team Melli) have defeated Uzbekistan’s National Team 1-0 in their first post-World Cup match. Both teams had scoring opportunities in the first-half, but missed all their chances.
According to Press TV, the 2 teams kicked off the 2nd half with several changes and it was the Iranians who broke the deadlock.
In the 68th minute Mehdi Torabi found the net from close range to seal the victory for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Iran international striker Karim Ansarifard reportedly flied to England on Tuesday night to pen a contract with Nottingham Forest.
Ansarifard has caught the eye of Reds boss Aitor Karanka.
The 28-year-old player will reportedly join Nottingham Forest on loan from Greek giant Olympiacos.
Ansarifard represented Iran’s National Football Team in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The attacker scored a goal against Portugal from the penalty spot in the last match of Group B.
