The tradition of Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) in dealing with hypocrites, can be a source of guidance for Islamic communities and countries in how to deal with the hypocrites.

Any revolution and movement which maintains ideals and goals that are contrary to the interests of arrogant powers, is always threatened by two foreign and domestic currents. Given that the threat of foreign enemies is out in the open, confronting this threat is not a difficult task as such, and the foreign enemies’ plots and conspiracies can be countered and foiled via adoption of appropriate plans and achievement of an understanding of the strongpoints and drawbacks of the foreign foe. Meanwhile, this doesn’t mean that this confrontation is an easy task and will not inflict financial and physical losses. However, since the identity, policy, and approaches of the foreign enemy is clear, up to a large extent, it is possible to confront them, despite all difficulties. Meanwhile, the main threat is posed by the domestic enemy, who hides his true face and stands. The domestic enemy portrays a friendly image. However, it covertly and overtly collaborates with the foreign enemy in order to maintain its interests and to stabilize its stand. The domestic enemy reaches out for the foreign enemy and provides confidential reports to foreign enemies, thereby dealing heavy blows against the revolution and its advocates. A glance at the history of advent of Islam shows that Prophet Mohammad faced domestic enemies, while his prudent and resolute measures prevented the infiltration of domestic enemies into the Islamic Ummah.

When the Prophet of Islam was staying in Mecca, the aristocrats and leading polytheists and idolaters opposed Prophet Mohammad, imposing threats and sanctions, in addition to torturing and mass murdering Muslims. Prophet Mohammad called on his disciples and followers to resist, and through the migration of a group of Muslims to Abyssinia and his own migration to Medina, managed to put behind this difficult phase in time. Although polytheists and idolaters of Mecca continued their hostility against Muslims, given that their identity and anti-Islamic stands were obvious for the Prophet of Islam, he confronted them via establishment of a government in Medina and organization of Islamic troops, dealing deadly blows against the foreign enemies of Islam, and achieving resounding victories. Prophet Mohammad ultimately conquered Mecca and put an end to polytheism and idolatry.

However, Prophet Mohammad faced major threats from enemies who claimed to be friends. Quranic culture refers to these enemies as hypocrites, who in the beginning baselessly claimed to believe in God, Day of Resurrection, and prophet hood of Prophet Mohammad. Meanwhile, as soon as they realized the rising power and influence of Islam and Prophet Mohammad, they secretly reached out for Meccan polytheists and anti-Islamic Jews, and provided confidential information for the foreign enemies throughout many battles, hoping that upon the defeat of the Islamic ruling system, they would be empowered and be able to meet their ominous and sinister goals. Prophet Mohammad kept an eye on the covert and overt provocations, instigated by hypocrites, until God Almighty revealed the true identity of hypocrites in several ayahs of Holy Quran.

In the 11th ayah of Surat Al-Hashr, God Almighty noted: “Have you not regarded the hypocrites who say to their brethren, the faithless from among the People of the Book: ‘If you are expelled, we will surely go out with you, and we will never obey anyone against you, and if you are fought against we will surely help you,’ and Allah bears witness that they are indeed liars.”

In this ayah, Holy Quran reveals the multilateral cooperation of hypocrites with disbelievers and shows that hypocrites refused to obey the Prophet and spoke of assistance to disbelievers. The hypocrites wrongly imagined that via reinforcement of the enemies of Islam they could cement their stance and gain power. Meanwhile, God Almighty has challenged this wrong imagination. In the 8th ayah of Surat Al-Munafiqun, God notes: “… Yet all might belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and the faithful, but hypocrites do not know.”

The hypocrites baselessly called into question the remarks and vows of God Almighty and Prophet of Islam.

The 12th ayah of Surat Al-Ahzab notes: “And when the hypocrites were saying, as well as those in whose hearts is a sickness, ‘Allah and His Apostle did not promise us anything except delusion.’

The hypocrites escalated their acts of sabotage and covert and overt oppositions, continuing their enmity against the Prophet of Islam. Ultimately God instructed Jihad against hypocrites.

In the 73rd ayah of Surat al-Tawbah, God notes: “O Prophet! Wage jihad against the faithless and the hypocrites, and be severe with them. Their refuge shall be hell, and it is an evil destination.”

As the result of divine warnings, Prophet always felt the threat posed by hypocrites, enlightening people about the infiltration of hypocrites within the Islamic community, while also cautioning the future World of Islam against the plots of hypocrites.

In the contemporary era, Aale Saud, the US, and Europe chant mottos such as campaign against terrorism, support for human rights, establishment of democracy and freedom, while concurrently committing heinous crimes.

One of the main approaches in confronting hypocrites is to refuse to obey them. If they feel that there is no room for them in the community and they cannot materialize their goals, hypocrites would gradually leave and would lose the status they have gained via deceiving the public opinion. Hence, in the 1st ayah of Surat al-Ahzab, God notes: “O Prophet! Be wary of Allah and do not obey the faithless and the hypocrites. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.”

Undoubtedly, if the tradition of Prophet Mohammad is considered as a role model for Muslims, the Saudi hypocrites can never fulfill their ominous goals with the collaboration of the US, Europe, and Zionism, and can never materialize their anti-Islamic aims.
