Any movement and revolution is in need of patience and resistance to fulfill its goals and ideals and to put behind hardships, problems and threats. Meanwhile, the level of patience and perseverance is directly tied to the level of grandeur of the revolution. The more profound the revolution; the further the need is sensed for perseverance.

Based on this viewpoint, if we look at the movements of Prophets, we realize that divine prophets had to remain patient and to grapple with major problems, given that they maintained a mission to announce the divine message to people, and aimed to change the order and system of their eras.

Holy Quran has referred to the prominent characteristic traits of prophets and their true followers. In fact, the 146th ayah of Surat Al-I’Imran notes: “How many a prophet there has been with whom a multitude of godly men fought. They did not falter for what befell them in the way of Allah, neither did they weaken, nor did they abase themselves; and Allah loves the steadfast.”

Obviously, if the enemies sense that the followers of the righteous path and monotheism are solid and resilient like mountains; are not fearful of woes or any physical or financial loss; do not show any trace of weakness; and do not give in, foes realize that confronting the righteous path is a difficult path. In this case, enemies would also realize that the resistance of the followers of righteous path cannot be broken.  Due to the fateful role of patience in fulfillment of elevated divine goals, God in 35th ayah of Surat al-Ahqaf addresses the Prophet, noting: So be patient just as the resolute among the apostles were patient…”

The significant patience, and resistance of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny), and his true followers in the face of hardships and woes in Mecca and Medina, was rooted in this heavenly guidance. Muslims tolerated the worst difficulties, managing to promote and reinforce the movement of Prophet of God; granting freedom, honor, and strength to mankind.

Meanwhile, the point to note is that those, who honestly and truly supported the Prophet of Islam, never showing any sign of weakness, and never submitting to enemies, were from the deprived and disadvantaged strata. They wholeheartedly believed in God and the divine religion of Islam and manifested their honesty and sincerity in practice.

Thus, when a group of powerful and wealthy individuals approached the Prophet, calling for meetings in the absence of the downtrodden and deprived, God instructed the Prophet of Islam: “Content yourself with the company of those who supplicate their Lord morning and evening, desiring His Face, and do not loose sight of them, desiring the glitter of the life of this world. And Do not obey him whose heart We have made oblivious to Our remembrance, and who follows his own desires, and whose conduct is mere profligacy.”

The history of the lives of prophets and Prophet of Islam, shows those, who manifested power and wealth, and did not remember God, were intent on fulfilling their satanic goals. When they realized that they cannot fulfill their economic and political interests, via misusing religion, and deceiving the public opinion, they fully confronted the Prophet of Islam, blatantly denying the prophet hood the Prophet of Islam, and tormenting and persecuting Prophet Mohammad.

Meanwhile, God addressed the Prophet of Islam in the 34th ayah of Surat al-An’am, noting: “Apostles were certainly denied before you, yet they patiently bore being denied and tormented until Our help came to them.”

In fact, one of the main characteristic traits of Prophet Mohammad was his patience and perseverance. If the Prophet of God would have not shown patience in the face of threats posed by the staunch foes of Islam, and would have not stood firm against the unfounded accusations leveled by polytheists, he would have not been able to materialize his elevated humane and divine goals. The Prophet of God, via patience and perseverance managed to turn a group of ignorant people into a vigilant and alert Ummah, so that they would be able to cement the pillars of grand Islamic civilization. Furthermore, as Holy Quran has pointed out, without patience and steadfastness, victory cannot be achieved. Although God’s assistance is an unchangeable divine tradition; this divine vow is materialized when the followers of monotheism resolutely stand against hardships and woes; are not entrapped by doubts; and show patience, while strongly believing in the ultimate victory of righteousness against falsehood.

This divine pledge has been mentioned in the 30th ayah of Surat Fussilat, noting: Indeed those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah!’ and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, saying, ‘Do not fear, nor be grieved! Receive the goodness of the paradise which you have been promised.

Perseverance and steadfastness in protection of the sacred religion of Islam is a responsibility that is shouldered by Prophet Mohammad and the Islamic Ummah. The Islamic Ummah should stand firm against the sworn enemies of Islam, upon compliance with the tradition of Prophet Mohammad.

In the 112th ayah of Surat Hud, God addresses the Prophet of Islam, noting: “So be steadfast, just as you have been commanded – you and whoever has turned to Allah with you.”

It should be noted that patience and perseverance does not belong to a particular phase in time or location, because the sworn enemies of Islam have continuously lurked against the Islamic World, and confront Muslims with their countless plots in order to somehow persuade Muslims to join disbelievers.

The 217th ayah of Surat al-Baqarah notes: “And they will not cease fighting you until they turn you away from your religion, if they can.”

Hence, the main goal of leading disbelievers is to confront the Islamic principles. In another ayah, Holy Quran has presented this fact in a more transparent manner, noting: “Many of the People of the Book are eager to turn you into unbelievers after your faith, out of their inner envy…”

History shows that opponents of Islam have always confronted this divine religion in several scenes. The 200-year Crusades, disintegration of Ottoman Empire,  disintegration of the Islamic World, insults leveled by some oriental scholars against Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammad, production of insolent films against Islam,  and the wars waged by Global Arrogance and Zionism against Muslims of Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other Islamic countries shows this bitter fact, and manifests that the only way for protection of Islam is for Muslims to maintain perseverance and patience, and to defend Islam with Jihad and martyrdom, while being certain that they will emerge victorious with God’s assistance.
