Since the martyrdom of John the Baptist who was decapitated by libertine rulers up until the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) whose head was raised on spearhead and after that those who have withstood injustice have been slaughtered by tyrants, oppressors and debauchees throughout history.

History bears witness that oppressors have always shed the blood of the people who oppose their illegal rule. This was the ground of Imam Hussein's movement, too. Yazid was an absolutely corrupt and lecherous youth. When he came to power through the breach of the treaty his father Mu'awiyah had signed with the Prophet's elder grandson Imam Hassan (AS), he was indulged in explicit profligacy and pleasures of flesh. He would desecrate Islamic sanctities and rules. Imam Hussein (AS) exposed the real nature of Yazid by addressing the then Muslims (and indeed the entire mankind), "Do you not see that truth is not practiced and falsehood is not prevented? In such a case, it deserves that a faithful meets his Lord."

Today the rulers of the Global Arrogance and hegemonic powers have gone to the extremes in oppression, aggression and crimes in a bid to stabilize their illegitimate rule. The bestial acts of Daesh terrorists in the Islamic countries is a clear example of such behaviors. They kill innocent people in the name of religion.

The world is burning in the fire of innovations and twisted ideas. Although the gruesome crimes of the Takfiri and Zionist terrorists and massacre of people by them burns the hearts; the valour of the defenders of divine values and innocent people reminds the viewers of the love and self-sacrifice of Imam Hussein's companions in Karbala.

As the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says, "Ashura is not an event. It is a culture." Ashura has transcended time and place and has turned into an infinite galaxy of divine values and human virtues. No divine movement has grown up without loyal and selfless helpers and companions. The messengers of God always relied on devoted companions. Ayah 146 of surah Ale Imran reads in this regard, "How many a prophet there has been with whom a multitude of godly men fought. They did not falter for what befell them in the way of Allah, neither did they weaken, nor did they abase themselves, and Allah loves the steadfast."

These are the faithful who have entered the battlefield with insight and God praises such faithful in ayah 15 of surah Hujurat, "The faithful are only those who have attained faith in Allah and His Apostle and then have never doubted, and who wage jihad with their possessions and their souls in the way of Allah. It is they who are the truthful."

Imam Hussein's companions had made a lovely bond with God. This very bond led them to sacrifice in the way of God. Imam Sadeq (AS) says, "The faith of nobody will be complete unless God is dearer to him than his soul, father, mother, children, properties and all people."

The love of God was at its climax among Imam Hussein's companions. Wahab ibn Abdullah Kalbi was one of them. He was a Christian who had become Muslim together with his mother by Imam Hussein. A newly wedded groom, he came to Karbala with his mother and wife to defend Imam Hussein. He rushed towards the battlefield and killed a number of the enemy's forces. Then he came to his mother asking, "Are you satisfied with me?" His mother answered, "I won't be satisfied with you unless you are killed before Hussein."

Wahab returned to the battlefield and killed some 40 of the enemy troops. Then the enemies surrounded him and cut his arms and took him to Umar ibn Sa'ad as captive. Umar told him, "How bravely you fight!" Then he ordered them to cut his head and throw it to his mother. Wahab's mother took the head, hugged it and cleaned the blood from his face, saying, "Praise belongs to God who made me proud with your martyrdom." But then she threw it back to the enemy shouting, "I don't take back what I have spent in the way of God!"

The Iranian youth, Mohsen Hojaji, who was martyred by Daesh terrorists in August 2017 in Syria was a manifest example of a true faithful. The short film of his captivity and his beheaded body quickly went viral and breathed fresh spirit into the corpse of youths, especially those of the defenders of the sanctuary of Ahl al-Bayt and the Resistance Front. The face of the executor resembled those of the hordes of Yazid, as if this footage has remained from the day of Ashura. The Daesh terrorists intended to dishearten the faithful and brave youths but their dastardly measure backfired.

When the image of Mohsen Hojaji was released on the internet and social networks, his wife was asked if she had seen it. She answered, "Yes, I have seen the image of my husband's decapitated body. Many told me not see this image. But I told them not to speak so. Just as Hazrat Zainab didn’t see except beauty in Karbala; I, too, don't see except beauty in this course and this image. My husband's love of the Ahl al-Bayt was to the extent that he got one sign from each of them and was martyred. The enemy unsheathed dagger for Imam Ali. They unsheathed dagger for my husband, too. My husband's head was severed from the body like Imam Hussein (AS). Mohsen was young like Hussein's Ali Akbar. My husband was captivated like Hazrat Zainab (SA)."

The defender of the sanctuary of Ahl al-Bayt, Mohsen Hojaji, was born in July1991 in Najafabad, Isfahan, and courted martyrdom in August 2017 in Syria. Mohsen wished martyrdom and attained his wish.
