Faith, along with good deeds, is the most important attribute of an exemplary woman. A glance at the ayahs of the holy Qur’an reveals that true faith is always coupled with righteous acts, as mankind strives to reach pinnacles of peace, prosperity and happiness in the transient life of the mortal world, and the bliss of the Hereafter. God says in ayah 97 of Surah Nahl:
“Whoever acts righteously, [whether] male or female, should he be faithful, —We shall revive him with a good life and pay them their reward by the best of what they used to do.”
We also read in ayah 124 of Surah Nisa:
“And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, should he be faithful —such shall enter paradise and they will not be wronged [so much as] the speck on a date-stone.”
The memorizers of the holy Qur’an have a high status in the sight of God. Prophet Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) has praised the memorizers of the holy Qur’an and given tidings of their lofty degrees in paradise. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, ample ground has been provided for the spiritual growth and dignity of women. Thanks to Islamic teachings, following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, girls and women in Iran, have achieved brilliant success in the various fields of science, sports, and culture including recitation and memorization of the holy Qur’an.
For instance, Najmeh Sha’bani Qahroudi is a young girl who has won the first prize in several Qur’anic competitions and now works as an expert in Qur’anic studies. She succeeded to memorize the entire holy Qur’an in 4 months. Speaking of her sweet experience in memorizing the holy Qur’an she says: "It was indeed a thrilling experience to memorize the Revealed Words of God Almighty. It is not describable. Those were the best and most memorable days of my life. It is crystal clear that the Grace of God is upon the memorizers of the holy Qur’an. I believe that our efforts in the right way, if accompanied with sincerity, will naturally open the gates of God’s blessings upon us, for He does not leave His faithful servants alone.”
Najmeh Sha’bani Qahroudi further said: “The most important factor in becoming a memorizer of the holy Qur’an is to overcome worldly desires and the pull of the material world, by turning towards God Almighty with pure intention. It is obvious that God pays attention to every person’s sincere desires and will surely guide them on the right path.”
