Iranian National Volleyball Team (Team Melli) have climbed to the top of the Nations League standings after standing tall to post a breathtaking victory over defending world Champions Poland.

According to Press TV, the Asian aces were the better side out of the blocks in the second game of the tournament’s third week in the northwestern Iranian City of Urmia on Saturday, taking the first set 25-20.

Poland, however, drew level after a 25-21 win the second and went one set up by claiming the third 25-18.

Next, it was Iran’s turn to step up and fight back, bagging the fourth set 25-17.

From that point, there was no stopping the Iranians, who took full advantage of their home support to finish the game with a 15-8 triumph in the deciding set.

Iran are now top of the table with 20 points, one ahead of Russia whom they will host on Sunday while the Poles face Canada.
