Over to the 2019 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, Hafez Ghashghaei of Iran has won a silver medal in the Men’s 55kg category.

According to Press TV, in the snatch competition, Ghashghaei settled for the 9th place with 111 kilograms, but it was a different story when it came to the clean and jerk. The 24-year old Iranian, managed to lift 149 kg in his 2nd attempt to secure his silver medal, just to be beaten by 5-time World Champion Om Yun-chol of North Korea, who set a new world record after claiming 166kg in his last attempt.

That’s while in the total standings, Ghashghaei was nowhere near the podium as his 260 kg in total, earned him a 7th place finish.
