Coronavirus in Iran: 700 new cases admitted to hospital
Nearly 10 percent of more than 6,600 new coronavirus cases detected in Iran over the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman announced.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 1,392,000 following the detection of 6,608 new cases since Tuesday noon.
Of the new cases detected since yesterday, only 695 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.
At least 1,183,463 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 57,651, saying the disease has taken the lives of 91 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,024 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 9,070,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
