Iran: Fireworks, light show in Tehran mark 1979 Islamic Revolution’s anniversary
A firework display and light show took place in Tehran's Azadi Square to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution’s victory.
The event happened on the Azadi Square, one of the largest squares in the capital. The Azadi tower's facade, landmark of historical and cultural significance, was illuminated with lights and pictures of the Revolution as well as images of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him). The Islamic Revolution took place in 1979, when the Shah was overthrown following widespread demonstrations.
