New envoys, UN representatives meet Iranian FM in Tehran
A number of new foreign ambassadors and representatives of the UN organizations met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian at the beginning of their tenure in Tehran.
According to Tasnim news agency, the top Iranian diplomat on Thursday held meetings with the new foreign ambassadors and UN officials to receive a copy of their credentials.
The new ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Belgium, Finland, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Spain held separate meetings with Amirabdollahian.
Moreover, the newly-appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UNRC) in Iran Stefan Priesner presented his credentials to the foreign minister.
The Resident Coordinator is the highest-ranking representative of the UN Development System (UNDS) at the country level, with the responsibility to lead United Nations country teams, and ensure system-wide accountability on the ground for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
Another UN official that met with the Iranian foreign minister was Robin Nandy, the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Iran who took the post in August.
He is responsible for leadership, management, strategic advocacy, resource mobilization and delivery of the country program of assistance for children.
