All perpetrators behind Lt. General Soleimani assassination must be seriously prosecuted: Iran Judiciary chief
Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei has underlined the need for the most serious prosecution of the perpetrators of the assassination of Iran’s top anti-terror Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and a number of Iranian scientists.
“We will not allow the blood of these innocent people to be wasted,” Mohseni-Ejei said on Monday, blaming the US and the Israeli regime for the terrorist crimes.
On January 3, 2020, the US military conducted an air operation on the order of former US President Donald Trump to assassinate Lt. General Soleimani. The attack near Baghdad International Airport martyred the popular anti-terror commander and his companions, including Deputy Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Iranian officials have on several occasions vowed to avenge the assassination of the two top commanders, as well as the assassination of its top nuclear scientist Dr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
As part of its retaliation, Iran launched a volley of ballistic missiles at the Ain al-Asad Air Base in Iraq’s western Province of Anbar on January 8, 2020, as a result of which 110 US troops were diagnosed with “traumatic brain injuries.”
Iran has denounced the assassinations as “state terrorism” and vowed to end the American presence in the region as the ultimate act of revenge, while urging neighboring Iraq to expel the US forces from the country.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has pledged to legally pursue the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mohseni-Ejei said the US, the Israeli regime and their agents are mounting crimes against humanity in various forms across the world, adding that they have committed vicious acts against the world’s freedom-seeking nations throughout history, particularly in recent decades.
Iran’s top judiciary official called on Muslim nations “to be vigilant in the face of enemies’ schemes and not to be deceived by them as they seek to cause division among the Muslim Ummah.
He also said Muslim nations across the world should not allow evil powers to achieve their “malicious goals” and added that freedom-seeking people do not tolerate crimes against humanity which are committed by the arrogant powers who claim to advocate human rights.
