  • Iran, Nicaragua sign cooperation agreement on supply of medicine and medical equipment

Head of Iran’s Barkat Pharmaceutical Group has signed an important agreement during his recent visit to Nicaragua in order to facilitate cooperation between Tehran and Managua in the field of healthcare through exporting Iranian medicine and medical equipment to the Central American country.

During the ceremony, which was attended by Akbar Borrandegi and the executive manager of Nicaragua’s Social Security Institute, Roberto Lopez, the managing director of Barkat Pharmaceutical Group said Iran has 41 years of experience in the medical field and is ready to transfer its knowledge to Nicaragua.

He added that Iran possesses 130 pharmaceutical companies, 75 plants producing raw material for medicine, and more than a hundred medical distribution companies.

Borrandegi added that the country also attaches great significance to manpower training in all medical and health-related areas.

Lopez, for his part, lauded the achievements and experiences of Barkat Pharmaceutical Group.

He added that the cooperation between the two sides has led to signing of contracts with the aim of facilitating access to high-quality Iranian medicine and medical equipment.

The Nicaraguan official added that his country is also ready to cooperate with Iran to build a pharmaceutical company in Nicaragua.
