Gaza’s population is at a tremendous risk amid the Coronavirus pandemic as a result of Israel’s inhumane policies since 2007. The enclave’s health system has been experiencing severe shortages in medicines and hospital supplies.

According to Press TV, battered by three Israeli wars and a crippling blockade the Gaza Strip is preparing for the worst following the discovery of more COVID 19 cases. On Monday another Palestinian has tested positive in the tiny seaside sliver bringing the number of COVID 19 cases to 10.

The bad news of the Coronavirus cases comes amid sharp shortages in medicines and hospital supplies. The first cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the overpopulated Gaza Strip on March the 22nd.

Palestine declared a state of emergency earlier this month over the coronavirus prompting lock-down in several towns and villages in the occupied West Bank.

According to health experts there are indications that every infected person will likely infect at least two other persons.

In a bid to avert the spread of the Coronavirus, universities and schools have been shut down, gatherings were banned while people returning to the impoverished territory were strictly isolated and monitored. Experts however say it’s unclear how successfully the authorities in Gaza can enforce isolation in one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

For years, the Israeli regime has systematically crippled the health system in Gaza. Health officials are calling for the complete lifting of the blockade to help fight the spread of the Coronavirus.
