Welcome to this week's episode of the series "In the Path of the Imam". Today, we study some of the views of the Founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, late Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him) on the foundations and principles of Islamic unity.

Last week, we studied the status of the World of Islam in the view of Father of Islamic Revolution, late Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him) and reminded that in the view of late Imam, discord is the root cause of humiliation of Muslims, and establishment of a ruling system, similar to the ruling system in the advent of Islam which would unify the Islamic Ummah, is the only means for countering this humiliation and for reviving the previous grandeur of the Islamic Ummah.

Late Imam focused on the unity of the World of Islam, in theory and practice, both. Furthermore, late Imam was one of the few thinkers, who established a ruling system for materialization of the idea of Islamic unity, and succeeded in formation of a current in the Islamic world. Late Imam, throughout his rule, pursued this idea, while seriously challenging some of the suppressive and dependent rulers of Islamic countries, given that the Islamic Revolution resulted in establishment of a ruling system, which sought freedom and independent, based on Islamic rules and regulations. Late Imam, who materialized the ideals of an Islamic ruling system, never let go of materialization of the idea of establishment of a grand Islamic Ummah, in line with the idea of establishment of a global Islamic ruling system, and always put emphasis on the necessity of fulfilment of this topic of importance. Late Imam's honest devotion to solidarity turned him into one of the most prominent revolutionary figures of the World of Islam.

In the view of late Imam, unity included cognitive consensus, and maintained a divine and spiritual origin. Such a solidarity is rooted in emotional energy, effort, and mutual trust of individuals and groups, resulting in empowerment, reformation, and progress of the community, and preventing corruption in the society.

Late Imam, in explanation of the divergence in the World of Islam, mentioned two important and fundamental factors which were; the widening rift of the ruling systems with people, and differences of opinion of the rulers of Islamic countries.

Late Imam also reiterated the significant role of the US and Zionist regime of Israel in driving a wedge among Muslims, while urging Muslims across the world to unite in their confrontation against the foes of Islam, especially the spurious Zionist regime of Israel. Late Imam believed that the existence of a common enemy, being the illegal Zionist entity, potentially paves the way for unity of Islamic countries.

In order to uproot discord among Muslims, and to fulfill the political unity of the Islamic world, late Imam presented a comprehensive process, which included paving the way for materialization of unity; activating political and religious elites, as enforcers of unity; applying necessary tools for political unity of Muslims, and ultimately establishing a grand Islamic government.
