Welcome to this week's episode of the series "In the Path of the Imam. Today, we discuss the views of the Father of Islamic Revolution, late Imam Khomeini (God's mercy upon him) in regard to the two principles of promotion of virtues and prevention of vice.
The principles of promotion of virtues and prevention of vice are a part of the important ideological and behavioral pivots of the divine religion of Islam, which cover and influence a vast range of topics of importance. In other words, the two foundations of promotion of virtues and prevention of vice are not just applied to the domain of relations among the members of the community. These two foundations are a mechanism for general supervision of members of community on each other, as well as supervision of people over the officials. The Founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, late Imam, elaborated upon the religious terms of the two principles of promotion of virtues and prevention of vice. In today's discussion, we brief you upon the aspects of the views and thoughts of late Imam in this realm.
Late Imam put emphasis on promotion of virtues and prevention of vice as necessities in the sacred religion of Islam, while referring to ayahs of Holy Quran, and the hadiths cited from the Prophet of Islam's Infallible Household (PBUT) in this regard. Late Imam also reminded that promotion of virtues and prevention of vice brings about blessings for the community.
In elaboration of the religious and social status of the two principles of promotion of virtues and prevention of vice, late Imam noted that implementation of these two principles are both the right and duty of the members of the community, while calling on all people and Muslims to fulfill this significant duty.
Late Imam underscored that these two important principles in the divine religion of Islam have obligated everyone to encourage the entire community to carry out good deeds and to prevent misdeeds and corruption. Late Imam went on to remind that an individual's responsibility and obligation is not solely to carry out good deeds, and in fact every person is also held accountable for others' deeds. Members of the community are responsible toward each other. Late Imam in his keynote remarks called on the members of the community to carry out these two principles in order to prevent the derailment of the society from the righteous path.
Late Imam pointed out that one of the important manifestations of vices in Islamic communities is the domination of foreign powers on the internal affairs of the country, while noting that in order to fulfill the interests of Muslims and to prevent the domination of foreign powers on the domestic affairs of the country, all Muslims should gather and unite under the banner of Islam. Late Imam reiterated that campaigning against the domination of hegemonic powers on the country is one of the manifestations of prevention of vice.
The Father of Islamic Revolution underlined that fulfillment of the honor, dignity, and credibility of people in national assemblies, including Majlis, is one of the most important manifestations of promotion of virtues, while urging the lawmakers to fulfill this task.
Late Imam underlined that lawmakers should maintain Islamic ethical principles, and know that God Almighty supervises their remarks and deeds.
Late Imam also considered realization of virtues and vices as the necessary condition for promotion of virtues and prevention of vice.
