The particles of broken-down plastic products are now being found within rainwater, sea salt, air and even us, having entered the food chain through species like tuna and mackerel. Just-published findings from a collaborative survey, focused on nearly 40 sites across Auckland, New Zeakland, showed the bulk of these particles were fibers that may likely be traced back to the washing of clothing.
