What does a virus have to do with war and repression? The coronavirus has disrupted global supply networks and spread panic throughout the world’s stock markets. The pandemic will pass, not without a heavy toll. But in the larger picture, the fallout from the virus exposes the fragility of a global capitalist economy that never fully recovered from the 2008 financial collapse and has been teetering on the brink of renewed crisis for years.
