Regarding the sensitive role of the president in the Islamic Republic of Iran, it is necessary to qualify the nominees by the highest vetting body. According to the Iranian Constitution, the Guardian Council is responsible for this important job. It is mentioned in paragraph 9 of Article 110 of the Constitution: “Qualification of the presidential nominees, with regards to the conditions that are mentioned in this law, should be confirmed by the Guardian Council.”
